How many synonyms can you come up with for the word “nice”? Stellaluna challenges anyone on their adjective game: friendly, wonderful, sweet, pleasant, adorable, likable, affable, amiable…even amazing. Each applies for Stellaluna, a 3-year-old golden retriever who’s been an almost-daily member of Happy Dogs Southside since May of 2015. The folks at Southside confirm: “Stellaluna is everyone’s friend. She’s super-nice, friendly and always so excited.”
Where’d she get all those good vibes? Emma, Stellaluna’s “mother”, says that Stella came from a woman who breeds golden/lab mixes at her house in Maryland. Emma’s family had previously gotten a wonderful dog from the breeder, and Emma knew she wanted an equally delightful puppy for herself. When Emma went to pick out Stellaluna, she knew she was the one for her because she was small, snuggly, and good-natured. She fell asleep on Emma’s lap on the way home that first day, and the two have been inseparable ever since!
If Stellaluna could say what her credo is, what would it be? “I’m just here to make friends.”
What does Stellaluna love? Stella loves people, playing with her friends, food, and chasing pigeons. She also enjoys going on long hikes during the summer.
What doesn’t she love? She does not like statues or high winds. When she was a little puppy she was afraid of the dark.
What’s she picky about? She’s not really picky about anything, but she always thinks she wants to eat citrus and begs for a slice of orange or grapefruit, even though she doesn’t like it and spits it out on the floor every time. (Stella!)
What’s she like after a day at Happy Dogs? Stellaluna is usually nice and tired. While she’s always energized and happy to see Emma when she picks her up (and to get her treat on the way out the door), once she’s home she usually conks out on the bed after eating her dinner.
