Happy Dogs

Why you only see our five-star reviews

Our review search is there to help you find what parents loved, so it shows five-star reviews. But we get bad ones too: fewer than 1 in 15 of our reviews on Google and Yelp are one- or two-star reviews.

We read every one, and most fall into a few groups.

When we said no

The most common are from someone upset that we held to a rule. We sent a dog home, charged for a night after a late pick-up, turned away a dog whose vaccines had lapsed, or asked someone to book a tour instead of coming through the playrooms on the spot.

Each of those rules is there for the dogs:

  • Vaccines: every dog in the room shares the same air.
  • Sending a dog home, even mid-stay: when a dog is too much for the group or just can’t settle, we send them home, because the other dogs in that room are someone’s too.
  • Tours: the people on the floor keep their eyes on the dogs, so we book someone just to show you around and answer your questions.
  • Pick-up times: after closing, our attention belongs to the dogs staying the night.

When we stepped into play

Some parents don’t like seeing our staff step in: breaking up a pile, pausing play that’s getting rough, moving a dog to a quieter room. We do it all day, on purpose. Excitement builds in a group, and someone has to read it early.

If you’re looking for a room where nobody steps in, we’re probably not the right place for your dog. We’d rather you know that before Day 1.

When a dog got hurt

Dogs who play together sometimes get a nick or a scratch, and dogs who share a room sometimes share a cough. Serious injuries are rare: our safety record is 99.98%, meaning 0.02% of visits end with an injury that needs a vet.

Big or small, we tell you. If it’s minor, we let you know. If it needs a vet, we take your dog there ourselves, acting for you, and keep you posted.

When we got it wrong

Some of the bad reviews are right. We once handed a dog to the wrong person. We had the dog back, safe, within hours, and now every pick-up is checked against the dog’s photo.

And when we make a mistake you’d never have found out about, like a meal mixed up or missed, we tell you anyway.

Read them yourself

They’re all on Google and Yelp, many with our reply.

Book a free Day 1, and we’ll tell you honestly how it went, including if group daycare isn’t the right fit.
